To all of the charities and sponsors involved with Bingo Country GTA, we appreciate your support of our efforts, too.

In a personal interview recently, Chris expressed his regret that his Halls had to close. "We appreciate the hard work that each of our Hall Staff and Charity Representatives gave. Working in a Bingo Hall is not glorious, but what it does for the community is," Chris told us. However, fewer and fewer people are coming to Bingo Halls to play a game that has faced difficult change. On the other hand, it has also offered some of the greatest opportunities to win than ever before. "We hope that our Regular Players, who are also feeling pain right now with our closing, will still support the many [Charitable and Not-For-Profit] groups, including those from our Halls who have been told they will all find at least one Bingo Session in a local Bingo Hall by the end of January 2008. We hope they'll tell even more of their friends -- come and play Bingo!".

Many of the Players at Finch, who have known our magazine for a long time, wanted to make sure that we sent this message along, sort of EN MASSE, a kind of GROUP FEELING about the day to day staff at Finch. The comments below were taken (rather quickly) during a conversation we were asked to sit in on, but express the love the Players wanted expressed:

"Unlike most Bingo [Halls] in Ontario, Finch was a special place to be, and a sometimes hard place to be." "No matter what, these working people took care of us." "Sometimes we were up in their face, but they pulled through, and now we're, like, friends." "Tell Lucy, she is the best" "I'm over 80 years old and I've played Bingo here since it opened, and I'm going to miss this place."

A special shout-out to Delta Bingo's ROY HADALL (Head Office Food Services) who put together the complete fixings for the Chicken Dinners (believe me, we worked that room, and we only heard positive feedback on the food, lots of "mmmms"), to BILL (Delta Oakville), who made sure everything kept moving, and to FAHAD, (Delta Oakville) THE MAN, who worked over the hot stoves and grills to cook some of the tastiest, most beautiful chicken enjoyed ever! Period. Not to mention the rest of the feast. Guys, reportedly, everyone got enough and enjoyed the hospitality!

June 1, 2007 * BINGO HALLS IN ONTARIO NEED YOUR SUPPORT, TOO! Literally thousands of Charitable or Not-For-Profit groups rely on funds raised through local Bingo activities and games. If you don't come out and play, they lose.

A SPECIAL APPEAL TO NON-SMOKERS! Almost a year ago to the date, Bingo in Ontario was forced to eliminate smoking in the Hall. Sadly, some smokers (and in some cases, many) decided to stop playing all together. Whether in protest, or because of a tougher habit, the impact has been felt - perhaps, fatally for Bingo in Ontario.

On the other, much nicer-smelling hand, Non-smokers have not necessarily supported Bingo in Ontario either since SmokeFree policy was implemented in Ontario. Even as the Bingo industry has made every conceivable effort to encourage their attendance.

DO YOU KNOW THAT BINGO HALLS SPENT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS COMBINED TO BUILD SmokeFree AREAS, ONLY TO HAVE TO TEAR THEM DOWN WHEN IT WENT 100% SmokeFree EARLY?
